BREAKING NEWS: The New SPC Outlooks Explained
The Storm Prediction Center has come out with new updates to their graphical outlooks introducing three different level intensities for severe weather. These new updates came out on March 3, 2026 and intnroduces a way to better communicate high coverage, low severe threat events versus low coverage and high significant events. If you are unsure of what your 4-letter station identifier is, click on the three stacked lines in the upper-right hand corner in the green box. A map will appear with a bunch of dots. Click on one of the dots closest to where you are located and it will automatically load the data for your location. The NBM is a National Blend of Models, meaning it takes all models into account and outputs it using statistics.
